Iranian Oil Minister Appoints Top Oil Director

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian oil minister who is determined to raise the country's oil production capacity to four million barrels a day appointed a new head for National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).

Bijan Namdar Zanganeh appointed Roknoddin Javadi as the NIOC managing director in a decree issued on Tuesday, in which he also thanked the former NIOC chief, Ahmad Qalebani.

Earlier Zanganeh had appointed Abbas Sheri Moqqadam and Hamid Reza Araqi as managing director of National Petrochemical Company and managing director of National Iranian Gas Company, respectively.

Javadi who had in the past served as the managing director of the National Iranian Gas Exports Company (NIGEC) was serving during the previous years as the top director of Evic Company, one of the major contractor involved in the Iranian oil and gas industry.

At that capacity, Javadi had signed large contracts with the oil ministry, including participation in development project of South Pars gas field’s 20th and 21st phases.
