Canadian Court Ruling Lacks Legal Value: Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly rejected a Canadian court ruling to seize millions of Iran’s assets, saying that the move lacks legal value.
A court in Canada’s Ontario has recently ordered the seizure of more than $7mln of Iran’s properties over the fabricated allegation that Tehran is funding terrorist groups.
In reply, Iran rejected the ruling as politically-motivated.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Saturday evening that Tehran was not informed about the legal proceedings.
The court ruling has therefore “no legal value” to Iran.
She also reminded the Ottawa government of its international commitment to protect diplomatic properties.
“Based on the international laws, diplomatic properties have immunity, and any move to ignore the international regulations will bring the legal repercussions.”
The accusation against Iran came as the Iranian official have on many occasions stated that Iran, as a victim of terrorism, has always denounced this inhuman scourge.
