No Evidence for Death of Kidnapped Soldier: Iranian MP
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A top Iranian lawmaker cast doubt on the fate of one of the country’s border guards abducted by the Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group, saying there in no accurate information on his health condition.
Jamshid Danaeifar, along with four other Iranian border guards, was kidnapped on February 6 by the Pakistani-based terrorist group, Jaish-ul-Adl.
They had been abducted in Jakigour region in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan and taken to Pakistan.
Four of the five border guards were released and returned home last week after being held hostage for two months. The fate of the fifth still remains unclear.
“There are still doubts as to whether Danaeifar has been martyred or not, and there is no accurate information about his martyrdom,” Ahmad Bakhshayesh, member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, told the Tasnim News Agency on Monday.
However, he added, the Jaish-ul-Adl has not either issued a formal statement about the fate of Danaeifar so far, making it unclear whether he is dead or alive.
In the meantime, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has announced in a statement that it will keep up efforts to shed light on the fate of remaining abductee.
