President: Iran Ready to Treat Injured Gazans
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s president voiced the country’s preparedness to provide medical services to the people of Gaza injured in the Israeli attacks and host all of them for treatment.
Leveling criticism at Israel for blocking the humanitarian aids and medical supplies to the Gaza Strip, President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday evening that his administration is ready to provide the necessary medical assistance to the Palestinians affected by Israel’s ongoing offensive.
“Our administration is prepared to provide medical assistance to Gaza, but they (Israelis) do not permit us to dispatch even pharmaceutical facilities and medical teams to there. We are ready to bring all injured Gazans in Iran and cure them,” he noted.
The president then reaffirmed Tehran’s support for the oppressed Palestinians, and expressed the confidence that the Tel Aviv regime would once again suffer a defeat in confrontation with Palestine.
As Israel continues to bomb hundreds of targets in the Gaza Strip, hospitals are facing a shortage of medical supplies. Pre-existing shortages are being exacerbated by heightened need and by the border policies of the Egyptian government, which continues to restrict entry into Gaza.
On July 8, Israel launched air strikes on the Gaza Strip. After 10 days of bombardment of the enclave from the air and sea, the Israeli forces started a ground operation in the Gaza Strip.
Around 650 Palestinians have been killed and more than 4,000 have been wounded in the 16-day Israeli onslaught.
