Finnish FM Due in Iran Tonight
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Finland’s Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja will arrive in Tehran on Saturday night for talks with senior Iranian officials.
Tuomioja will pay a two-day visit to the Islamic Republic at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.
During his stay in Tehran, the European diplomat is scheduled to hold a number of meetings with high-ranking Iranian officials, including President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, Chairman of Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.
Tuomioja’s trip to Iran follows his attendance at the Informal Meeting of European Union Foreign Ministers, the so-called Gymnich Meeting, in Italy’s Milan, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland’s official website.
The Middle East peace process and the situation in Gaza have been reportedly discussed at the two-day meeting in Italy.
Among the other topics of discussion were the situation in Iraq, Syria and Libya.
