Iranian Experts Successfully Overhaul F-14, F-4 Fighters

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Technicians of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) managed to overhaul two fighter jets.

It took experts at Shahid Babaie Air Base in Isfahan some 35000 person-hour work to overhaul an F-14 fighter jet.

Following successful test flights in the presence of IRIAF Commander Brigadier General Hassan Shahsafi, the fighter jet rejoined the Air Force fleet.

Also, engineers and technicians at Shahid Delhamed Air Base in Chabahar overhauled an F-4 fighter jet with 70,000 person-hour work.

This aircraft also returned to Air Force service after successful test flights.

Before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the overhaul of military planes in Iran was carried out by foreign military attaché. But today the Islamic Republic is able to overhaul military aircraft thanks to some of the world’s most adept engineers and technicians.

Iran has become one of only a handful of countries capable of performing the servicing and overhaul of its fleet of airplanes, both military and civilian.

This is while the country has been under sanctions since 1979 and the sanctions have become more intense after the country started its peaceful nuclear program.
