Iranian Parliamentary Delegation Due in Moscow on Sunday
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A delegation of Iranian lawmakers is slated to travel to Moscow on Sunday to hold talks with the high-ranking Russian officials on a diverse range of issues, including ways to promote parliamentary ties.
“According to the schedule, the 5-member delegation is planned to leave for Moscow early on Sunday,” Ramezan Ali Sobhanifar, the Head of Iran-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group, told the Tasnim News Agency on Saturday.
Sobhanifar also said that he will be heading the parliamentary delegation, which includes Mohammad Taghi Tavakoli, Mohammad Hossein Ghorbani, Hadi Ghavami, Safar Naemizar, and Abbas Salahi.
He also announced that during their 5-day visit to Russia, the Iranian parliamentarians will meet with senior Russian officials, including vice-speakers of the Russian State Duma (the lower house) and the Federation Council (the upper house).
Tehran and Moscow have taken steps to develop bilateral ties in recent months.
In September, Iran and Russia agreed to boost cooperation in the area of economy and to use national currencies in bilateral trade.
