Iran Ready to Share Nuclear Experience with Neighbors: AEOI Cheif

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said the country’s proposal for the establishment of a convention on the safety of nuclear plants was aimed at boosting peace and interaction in the region.

Ali Akbar Salehi described the proposed convention as a measure aimed at countering Iranophobia campaign spearheaded by the West.

He said the convention includes safety issues related to nuclear plants.

Salehi emphasized that Iran is ready to share its experiences regarding the nuclear technology with the neighboring countries.

Earlier on Saturday, the AEOI chief inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Iranian Vice President and Head of the Department of Environment Massoumeh Ebtekar aimed at protecting the environment against the negative impacts of radiation and nuclear activities.

Salehi pointed to Persian Gulf states’ engagement in peaceful nuclear activities, and said Iran is prepared to establish a regional safety convention monitoring the nuclear facilities in the region.
