Ayatollah Khamenei Raps Lack of Security for Muslims in West
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei censured a Western propaganda campaign against Islam, calling into question the lack of safety of Muslims in Europe and the US.
“You can see today that what propaganda campaign is underway in Europe and the US against Muslims. The issue is not why Muslims do not have the required freedom in many of these (Western) countries; the issue is why they (Muslims) do not have life safety,” the Leader stated in a meeting with Iranian parliamentarians who represent religious minorities.
Ayatollah Khamenei also highlighted Islam’s pacific attitude towards others, saying Islam has ordered Muslims to treat the followers of other religions with “fairness and justice.”
“What is seen in the world today is that the powers and government which claim to advocate fairness and justice, do not observe any fairness and justice except within the circle of their own narrow, limited and cruel policies,” the Supreme Leader noted.
Ayatollah Khamenei then made it clear that not a single case of aggression against non-Muslims by Muslims have been recorded in Iran after the establishment of the Islamic Republic in 1979.
The comments came after the shooting death of three young Muslims in the US in the most recent case of what is believed to be another hate crime against Muslims in the West.
A 46-year-old man gunned down three young Muslim students in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on February 10.
Newlywed Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23, a University of North Carolina dental student, his wife, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21, and her sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19, a student at North Carolina State University, were killed in a condominium about two miles (three km) from the UNC campus.
