Iran’s Police Chief Unveils Special Plans for New Year’s Holidays
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Thousands of police forces and personnel as well as 6,000 surveillance cameras will be employed during the Iranian New Year’s holidays (March 21- April 3) to provide nationals with necessary services, Iran’s Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari announced on Monday
Over 1000 fixed cameras and 3000 mobile cameras will monitor driving offenses, and over 2000 surveillance cameras are ready to ensure safety of roads across Iran, General Ashrari said, addressing a major exercise held in preparation for the upcoming holidays.
He further noted that 500,000 people have been organized throughout the country for Nowruz holidays in a bid to provide real-time services for Iranian passengers.
“Police forces are present in 200,000 kilometers of main roads, sidetracks, and rural areas and in more than 500 cities to ensure the security and safety of Nowruz passengers,” he added.
In similar remarks during the exercise, Head of Iran’s Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO) Davoud Keshavarzian said that his respective organization will keep 13,500 forces on total standby in the said period.
Earlier on Monday, Iranian Health Minister Seyed Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi had also announced that his ministry will deploy 15 choppers and 4270 ambulances as part of its special measures during the new Persian year holidays.
The new Iranian year of 1394 will begin on Saturday, March 21, with people of Iran and a whole host of other nations celebrating the ancient festivities of Nowruz.
