Iran-EU Investment Conference to Take Place in Vienna: Report

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Media reports said Iran and the European Union plan to hold an international conference in Vienna, Austria, later this month to explore opportunities for cooperation.

The conference will be held from July 23 to 24 to discuss post-sanction opportunities for cooperation.

The “Iran-EU conference on trade and investment” will bring together officials from Iran, Austria, France, the UK, Germany and other countries as well as their traders and entrepreneurs.

“This forum provides businesses, investors and entrepreneurs with a unique chance to gain insights, analyze and explore opportunities, as well as network with high level authorities, policymakers and other stakeholders,” the official website of the conference said, Press TV reported.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Mine Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh will lead the Iranian delegation, including representatives of economic, financial, banking and foreign investment sectors as well as executives from oil, gas, petrochemicals, mining, automotive and other industries.

It comes after the conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and six world powers on Tuesday, which “promises a new horizon of cooperation” between the Islamic Republic and the world countries, the website said.

The conference is being held in cooperation with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization and joint chambers of commerce of Iran, France, Germany and Britain.

Earlier, Austrian President Heinz Fischer had praised, in a phone talk with Iran's President Hassan Rouhani, the conclusion of nuclear negotiations between Iran and six world powers, saying that the outcome of the talks would definitely leave a positive effect on Tehran-Vienna relations.

Rouhani, for his part, thanked the Austrian government for hosting negotiations between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) over Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program, saying that the European country is a good host for global talks.

He further emphasized that the conclusion of the nuclear talks, could pave the way for closer ties between Tehran and Vienna.

President Rouhani also welcomed an upcoming visit to Iran by President Fischer, and noted that the visit could bring bilateral relations between the two countries to a new stage.
