Rouhani Lauds Iran-Cuba Close Ties


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian new President Hassan Rouhani praised the close ties between Iran and Cuba and emphasized the need for enhanced relations between the two sides.

In a meeting with Cuba’s Vice-President of Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz here in Tehran on Sunday morning, Rouhani that Iran enjoys “pioneering” relations with Cuba.

“Fortunately, the two countries’ had an active relations in the international circles, including the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA),” Rouhani pointed out.

The Cuban official, for his part, regarded the relations between Iran and Cuba as “very deep and amicable”, and expressed hope for expansion of ties with Iran’s new administration.

Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz is among dozens of other foreign dignitaries who have traveled to Iran in order to attend Rouhani’s swearing-in ceremony.

The new Iranian president will take oath before the parliament as the country’s seventh president today, after yesterday’s endorsement of his presidency by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
