MP Fires AK-47 during Jordanian Parliament Session
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - An MP opened fire using an AK-47 on his colleague in the Jordanian House of Representatives in Amman on Tuesday.
The sound of gunfire was heard from inside the Jordanian House of Representatives on Tuesday morning, amid reports that one MP had opened fire during the parliamentary session.
According to Roya News, an Amman based Jordanian news service, MP Talal Al Sharif opened fire using a Kalashnikov weapon on his colleague MP Qusai Dmeisi the inside of the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
Early reports from Al Ghad news, a prominent Jordanian newspaper, Sharif opened fire using the AK-47 during a Foreign Affairs Council meeting at the House of Representatives, which lies in the Abdali area of Amman.
According to Al Ghad, it was not clear why Sharif opened fire.
Although it was MP Sharif firing the AK-47, Deputy Qusai Dmeisi (Zarqa, 4th District) was also involved in a brawl in the Parliament earlier this week, when he tried to attack Yihya Saud (Amman, 2nd District) to prevent Saud from launching accusations at Prime Minster Abdullah Ensour. As all parliamentary sessions are filmed, there is a video of the clash between the two MPs.
There is a long history of scuffles in the Jordanian parliament, with many sessions having to be adjourned over violence.
