Iran Preparing for Hosting Int'l Gas Exporting Countries Forum
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran appointed chiefs of four specialized committees tasked with holding the ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) due to be held in Tehran in November.
The appointed committees’ heads are tasked with organizing the conference.
The fifteenth ministerial meeting of GECF is scheduled to be held in Tehran in a month, on November 3.
Seventeen foreign delegations comprised of more than 100 foreign guests from Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, United Arab Emirates and Oman will attend the meeting.
The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is a gathering of the world’s leading gas producers and was set up as international governmental organization with the objective to increase the level of coordination and strengthen the collaboration among Member countries.
GECF also seeks to build a mechanism for a more meaningful dialogue between gas producers and gas consumers for the sake of stability and security of supply and demand in global natural gas markets.
In accordance with the GECF Statute, the organization is aiming at supporting the sovereign rights of its members over their natural gas resources and their abilities to develop, preserve, and use such resources through the exchange of experience, views, information and coordination.
