Envoy: Int’l Community Should Seize Opportunity to Interact with Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s ambassador to Italy called on the international community to seize the opportunity to engage in dialogue and interaction with the incumbent Iranian administration.

Speaking in a conference in Italian capital of Rome, Jahanbakhsh Mozaffari explained that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has chosen “moderation” as the cornerstone of his administration’s policies in dealing with internal, regional and international affairs.

The conference, titled “Presidency of Hassan Rouhani, an Opportunity for Dialogue with the International Community,” was attended by a number of senior political, parliamentary, economic and academic figures from Italy, as well as group of Iranian diplomats.

Mozaffari also praised Iran’s influential role and unique position throughout the history, and described the country as the “anchorage of stability and security” across the Middle East, which he said is prone to many crises.

Shortly after taking the office in August, Rouhani had reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to pursue the policy of "constructive interaction" with other countries as a basis for Tehran's foreign policy.

He has announced on several occasions that his administration will try to "create new opportunities for the country, remove threats and pursue policy of détente and mutual trust".

President Rouhani also believes that his administration pursues the policy of moderation in dealing with foreign countries and at the same time safeguards Iranian national security and interests.
