Iranian Provincial Economic Delegation to Visit China

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An economic delegation from Iran’s northern province of Zanjan is scheduled to pay a visit to China within the next few months, head of Zanjan Chamber of Commerce announced.

Speaking in a meeting with the Chinese ambassador to Iran on Monday evening, Gholamhossein Jamili said that Zanjan province has high potentials in mining industries and in processing mining products.

He said the economic capacities of the province cannot be ignored, and described Zanjan's capacity in textile industries as "desirable".

Jamili further expressed the hope that Chinese companies would increase investment in Zanjan.

He noted that during the visit to China, the economic delegation will elaborate on the economic privileges of the province for the Chinese industrialists.

Jamili also called on China to hold an industrial exhibition in Zanjan province.

As the interim nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 has given rise to optimism that the western sanction would eventually be lifted, representatives from some Chinese firms and investment agencies visited Tehran in December 2013 to look into ways of cooperating with Iran.

In recent years Iran-China trade has grown steadily commensurate with China’s growing reliance on foreign energy and Western companies leaving the Iranian market.
