Iran to Display Capabilities on Sidelines of IIPU Conference


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran plans to hold an exhibition on the sidelines of the upcoming meeting of the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union (IIPU) in Tehran to showcase the country's capabilities and achievements in various fields, an adviser to the parliament speaker said Wednesday.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency on Wednesday, Hossein Shiekholeslam said arrangements are made for the exhibition on Iran’s capabilities and achievements.

He said that the exhibition will display achievements in scientific, technological, tactical, nuclear, defense and aerospace fields.

That is while a senior Iranian lawmaker said on Feb. 10 that 25 parliament speakers have confirmed their participation at the IIPU Conference in Tehran, adding that 44 countries have also announced preparedness to attend the event.

“The conference has witnessed warm welcomed thus far and more than 44 countries have announced readiness to attend the conference," Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi told Tasnim.

Boroujerdi added that the participation of more than 400 parliamentarians from various world countries would be unprecedented compared with the past 15 years since the establishment of the IIPU.

Boroujerdi added that President Hassan Rouhani would be the keynote speaker at the IIPU opening ceremony on February 18.
