Iranian Parliamentary Delegation to Leave for Syria Tomorrow
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian parliamentary delegation headed by Chairman of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission is scheduled to leave Tehran for Syria tomorrow, a lawmaker said, adding that the delegation will likely pay a short visit to Lebanon.
Speaking to Tasnim on Monday, Rapporteur of the Commission Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini said the parliamentary delegation, comprised of five parliament members, including members of Iran-Syria Parliamentary Friendship Group and headed by Alaeddin Boroujerdi, will depart for Damascus on Tuesday.
"The delegations will have meetings with high-ranking Syrian officials,” Naqavi Hosseini stated.
The lawmaker said that the parliamentary delegation may pay a short visit to Lebanon for talks with that country’s officials.
The delegation with be in Tehran on Friday, February 28.
In December, a senior Iranian lawmaker emphasized the necessity to enhance ties with parliaments of other countries, adding that the legislature has invited a number of parliamentary groups to pay a visit to Tehran.
“Parliamentary groups facilitate the promotion of Iran’s ties with different countries and they have a good effect on assisting the foreign ministry to promote relations,” Abbas Ali Mansouri Arani, member of the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy commission, said at the time.
