Iran’s Parliamentary Delegation Leaves for Cuba

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The parliamentary delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran left Caracas for Havana late on Wednesday, local time.

Headed by Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the delegation had arrived in Caracas on Tuesday to attend commemorations marking the anniversary of Venezuela’s late president Hugo Chavez’s death.

Mohammad Saleh Jokar and Seyed Baqer Hosseini, the other members of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, accompany Boroujerdi in the Latin American trip.

Prior to leaving for Havana, Boroujerdi said the visit comes at an invitation by the foreign policy commission of Cuba’s parliament.

Enhancing relations with Latin America is among the top priorities of Tehran’s foreign policy.

In line with this policy, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Latin American countries, including Cuba and Venezuela, have expanded cooperation in recent years in various political, economic, and industrial fields.
