Iran Lowers Non-Oil Imports by 5%
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The value of Iran's non-oil imports has witnessed a five percent decrease in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2013 - March 20, 2014), while exports increase nearly half-a-percent, Iran's Customs Office announced on Saturday.
The total value of the imported products was $50.818bln during the said period, which shows a 4.92 percent fall compared to a year before, the office said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the total value of Iran’s non-oil exports, including gas condensates, reached $41.628bln, showing a total increase of 0.43 percent.
The main export products of the country included liquefied propane, pitch and methanol and the key export destinations were China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), India and Afghanistan.
The main items imported include vehicles, rice, press cake, corn for livestock and wheat with major import origins being the UAE, China, India, South Korea and Turkey.
