MP Lauds Iran's Great Scientific Achievements despite Sanctions


TEHRAN (Tasnim) — Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said that the country has made great achievements in the field of science and technology despite the sanctions imposed by the US and the West.

“After three decades of the US and West sanctions, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made considerable progress in various areas of science and technology by relying upon domestic capabilities and ex,” Boroujerdi said during a meeting with House Chairperson of International Relations in the National Assembly of South Africa Fatima Hajaig in Tehran on Monday.

The Iranian lawmaker also touched upon the spread of terrorism and the US failure in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, and said that the outbreak of the crises in the region is the result of interference by the US and its allies.

As regards Iran-South Africa ties, Boroujerdi said that the promotion of parliamentary ties between the two countries would play an important role in strengthening mutual cooperation in all areas.

The South African MP, for her part, described Iran as an important country in the Middle East region and the Muslim world and emphasized that her country is willing to expand bilateral relations in all spheres.

She also censured the unilateral sanctions by the US and the West against the Iranian nation, and said that every country has the right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
