Iran Beaten by Italy in FIVB Volleyball World League

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran suffered its second loss against Italy in two days in the FIVB Volleyball World League on Sunday.

The Iranian team lost to Italy in three straight sets 3-0 (27-25, 25-18, 25-22) in the match held at the Pala Olimpia Hall in Verona.

Ivan Zaytsev from Italy was the best scorer of the match with 18 points and Iran’s Shahram Mahmoudi scored 13 points.

Iran had lost to Italy 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-23) in its opener in Trieste on Friday.

The Italians now lead Pool A and have dropped just two sets. However it’s been a weekend to forget for Iran, who failed to win a set and now sit at the opposite end of the pool.

“We started in the right way but then we made too many mistakes and it is hard to play when you grant so much to a team like Italy. We have to be more confident and must improve everything...,” Iran coach Slobondan Kovac said in the post match news conference.
