Leader: Enemies’ Dream of Uprooting Islamic Awakening Strategic Mistake

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the attempts made by the US and Western intelligence systems to pretend that Islamic awakening movement has been suppressed in the Middle East region, and said, “If they fancy this way, this will be yet another strategic mistake and a wrong analysis on the part of our enemies."

"Islamic awakening may be (temporarily) suppressed in some parts of the Islamic world but doubtlessly, it will not be uprooted. It (Islamic awakening) will expand and cannot be eradicated easily thanks to the perception of Muslim youths in the region."

The Leader made the comments in an address to a huge gathering during a ceremony held to mark the 25th passing away anniversary of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini (RA), on Wednesday.

Pilgrims from across the country, as well as high-ranking Iranian officials along with groups of foreign guests and ambassadors took part in the ceremony held at the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini in southern Tehran.

Ayatollah Khamenei also referred to the US failed plots against the Islamic establishment and said Washington spared no efforts including staging military coup, supporting seditionists, stirring street protests, and causing rifts to confront the massive movement of the Iranian nation.

“Thanks to God (Almighty), all of these plots failed because the nation was vigilant and pious,” Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated.

Imam Khamenei said given the US military  heavy costs in Iraq and Afghanistan, military option against other countries is no longer a top priority for Washington.

Iran's Leader also referred to the threats posed by Takfiri terrorist groups and described them as “deceived and stupid elements” who are killing their fellow brothers in the name of Islam. He said the main enemies of Islam are those who sponsor these terrorist groups and provoke them.

Also on Tuesday, addressing a gathering of reciters and memorizers of the Quran participating in the 31st International Quran Competitions here in Tehran, the Leader raised the alarm over the plots by the enemies of Islam to stage proxy civil wars in the Islamic countries.

“Today, the policy of the enemies of Islam is waging proxy civil wars and fratricide in Islamic communities, but unfortunately, some (countries) in the Islamic Ummah (community) are not aware of this ominous policy and are even ready to join hands with the devil and even work with the Zionist regime (of Israel) to confront their fellow Muslim brothers,” said Ayatollah Khamenei.

The Leader reiterated that the enemies of Islam intensified their conspiracies against Islam following the establishment of the Islamic Republic.

Earlier last week, Ayatollah Khamenei had described a unified Islamic Ummah (community) as one of the Muslim world’s essential needs since enemies are trying to create discord among Muslim nations.

The leader further asked Muslim nations, especially the elite of the Islamic Ummah, to wisely recognize the realities on the ground through a correct understanding of the enemies’ plots.

He said stirring sectarian strife and Shiite-Sunni conflict is enemies' key tool to undermine Islam.

As regards the reason behind the enemies' strategy, Imam Khamenei said, “One of the main objectives of the arrogance front to sow discord among Muslims is to cover up its problems and protect the occupying Zionist regime (Israel)."
