Iran’s Sardar Azmoun Prefers to Stay in Russia

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun said that he prefers to stay in Russian Premier League than join a club in the English Premier League.

English clubs namely, Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal are being linked with a move for the Rubin Kazan teenager.

“I don’t have much experience and I think it’s not time to go to Premier League. I wanted to join an English club after playing in the 2014 World Cup but after I was left out of Iranian team I prefer to stay in Russia rather than join an English club,” Azmoun told the Tasnim news agency.

“I am very interested in playing at Liverpool but I want to play for my team.  Many Iranian players moved to the European leagues but could not play regularly,” he added.

“My priority is staying in the Russian Premier League. Several Russian teams who have qualified for the UEFA Champions League and European League have shown interest in signing me and I have to weigh up the offers,” Azmoun stated.
