FM Urges World Powers to Respect Iran’s N. Rights

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif renewed call on members of the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) to respect Iran’s nuclear rights.

In a meeting with Japan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Nobuo Kishi here in Tehran on Wednesday, Zarif gave the Japanese diplomat an explanation of the course of nuclear talks between Iran and the six powers.

Iran and the sextet of world powers are set to hold a fresh round of negotiations on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program in Vienna on June 16.

Elsewhere in the meeting, the Iranian minister voiced Tehran’s preparedness to bolster ties with Tokyo.

Kishi, for his part, expressed Japan’s enthusiasm for the enhancement of bilateral relations with Iran.

He also passed on a written message from Japanese Prime Minster Shinzo Abe for Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, reflecting Tokyo government’s determination to expand bilateral ties with Tehran in the areas of mutual interest.

Earlier in March, Foreign Minister Zarif and Japanese Prime Minister Abe held a meeting in Tokyo and mulled over the ways to bolster nuclear cooperation in future, with the Japanese side expressing Tokyo’s preparedness to provide Tehran with the nuclear expertise and experience.
