World Cup 2014: Ivory Coast Beats Japan 2-1


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Ivory Coast fought back from a goal deficit to beat Japan 2-1 in Group C of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

In the match held at the Arena Pernambuco in Recife, Brazil, Keisuke Honda was on target for Japan in the 16th minute but things changed in the second half, following the entrance of the veteran forward Didier Drogba in the 62nd minute.

Wilfried Bony equalized the match in the 64th minute. Two minutes later, Gervinho scored the winning goal.

Ivory Coast captain Yaya Toure was named man of the Match.

Ivory Coast will play Colombia in Brasilia on Thursday, June 19, while Japan plays Greece in Natal.
