France Easily Beats 10-Man Honduras

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - France national football team gained a comfortable 3-0 victory over Honduras in its opening Group E match in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Honduras player Wilson Palacios was sent off after receiving his second yellow card two minutes before the halftime.

Karim Benzema scored from the penalty spot just before the break.

With Honduras down to 10 men, France continued to dominate and Benzema created the second goal in the 48th minute - the first to be confirmed by goal line technology at the World Cup.

Benzema scored France’s third goal in the 72nd minute.

“Winning 3-0 at a World Cup isn't easy," France coach Didier Deschamps said in the post match conference.

''(The players should) savor the moment, there's nothing more wonderful.''

France will play Switzerland on June 20, while Ecuador face Honduras on June 21.
