Azeri Minister: Baku Keen to Use Iran's Scientific Experience


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Azeri Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov called on Iran to share its scientific experiences with Azerbaijan in the areas of nanotechnology, aerospace, and nuclear research.

Abbasov made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology Reza Faraji Dana in Tehran on Tuesday.

He also commented on the four existing science and technology parks in Azerbaijan, and emphasized the necessity for exchanging experiences and cooperation with Iran’s science and technology parks as well as knowledge-based companies.

During the meeting, Faraji Dana pointed to the historical, cultural and religious affinities between Iran and Azerbaijan, and stated, “The two countries have such an interrelated relationship and history that the commonalities connects us together.”

The Iranian minister also touched upon the recent visit by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Tehran, and said that the visit was a great stride forward in promoting relations between the two countries.

He also expressed the hope that bilateral ties in the area of science and technology would be strengthened in the near future.

Azerbaijan and Iran have had diplomatic relations since 1918. Iran recognized Azerbaijan's independence in 1991, and diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1992.
