Iran, Sextet Agree on Framework of Draft Text of N. Deal: Chinese Envoy

VIENNA (Tasnim) – The top Chinese negotiator in the Vienna talks between Iran and the world powers said the two sides have agreed on the framework of the draft text of the final deal.

Wang Qun on Friday told reporters that in this round of talks, the negotiating sides reached an agreement on the framework of the draft text of the nuclear deal.

He said there has been some progress on the text of the agreement.

Wang Qun stated that everyone is trying to make a final agreement possible before July 20.

He added that like previous rounds, the next round of talks will be held with the participation of G 5+1 political directors.

The fifth round of negotiations between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) over Iran’s peaceful nuclear program began in the Austrian capital of Vienna on June 16.

The talks are aimed at drafting a comprehensive deal to resolve the decade-long standoff over Tehran's peaceful nuclear energy program.

Iran and the six world powers inked an interim deal on Tehran’s nuclear program in Geneva last November, which came into force on January 20. The interim deal (the Joint Plan of Action) stipulates that over the course of six months (July 20), the parties will draw up a comprehensive nuclear deal which will lead to a lifting of the whole sanctions on the Islamic Republic.
