Iranian MP: Iran, Bulgaria Can Jointly Confront Terrorism


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian lawmaker said Iran and Bulgaria could stand on a common front in the battle against violence, terrorism, and extremist movements like those happening in Iraq.

The Head of Iran-Bulgaria Parliamentary Friendship Group Abbas Moqtadaei made the remarks on Saturday in a meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart Magdalena Lambova Tasheva in Sofia.  Highlighting  the friendly ties between Tehran and Sofia during the past 100 years, the Iranian lawmaker said the two countries can work together to reduce regional insecurity.

The Bulgarian parliamentarian in turn referred to the situation in the Middle East and the cultural influence of Iran in the region, and appreciated the Islamic Republic of Iran for helping establish peace in Iraq and Syria.

She further called for an increase in cooperation between Iran and Bulgaria in fighting drugs, terrorism, and extremism.

Iran and Bulgaria enjoy century-old bilateral ties.
