Iranian Forces Kill PJAK Terrorist near Border

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Army ground forces have killed an armed member of the Party for Free Life in Kurdistan (PJAK) terrorist group in a border clash, commander of the force announced Saturday.

Iranian Army Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said a gang of several PJAK terrorists had plotted to infiltrate into the country, but suffered big losses in an encounter with the Iranian armed forces at the border.

According to the commander, the terrorists, armed with different weapons, were carrying improvised explosive devices , but failed to hatch their plot after the Iranian soldiers inflicted heavy losses on them.

PJAK is an offshoot of the internationally-recognized terrorist group, the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which conducts deadly operations in western Iran, northern Iraq and southern Turkey.

PJAK terrorists regularly engage in armed clashes with Iranian security forces along the country's western border with Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.
