Iran Condemns Terrorist Attack in Lebanon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s embassy in Beirut strongly condemned a Friday terrorist attack in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley as "a criminal act carried out in line with the Zionist schemes targeting the country's security."

“We strongly condemn such a criminal act that is carried out to serve the purposes of enemies of the Ummah (Islamic community) and the Zionist plots,” the embassy said on Saturday.

It added that the terrorist incident was to undermine Lebanon’s security and stability, Lebanese Al-Balad website reported.

According to security sources, a bomb went off on Friday morning when Internal Security Forces (ISF) personnel were searching a vehicle in Dahr al-Baidar checkpoint in the eastern Bekaa Valley.

The blast killed at least two people and wounded 18 others.

The sources said that most of the casualties were from a civilian van that was caught in the blast.
