Iran’s Parliament Blasts Israel for War on Gaza
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian parliament on Sunday strongly condemned Israel’s “brutal crimes” against people of Gaza, and called for an immediate action by the international bodies to stop the slaughter of Palestinians under the Israeli military strikes.
In a statement, signed by 210 lawmakers, the Iranian legislature has urged the United Nations, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to defend the innocent people of Gaza against Israel.
It also insists that leaders of the Zionist regime of Israel should be regarded as “war criminals”.
Moreover, the parliamentarians lashed out at the US and its Western allies for backing the Israeli military assaults on the blockaded Gaza Strip, and also deplored the Islamic countries’ indifference to the ongoing incidents.
The statement warned the US and the Tel Aviv regime against the consequences of the offensive against Palestinians, noting that such crimes will only “accelerate the fall of the fake” regime of Israel.
Israel has launched a new wave of military strike on the besieged Gaza Strip after tensions raged between Palestinians and Israelis following the burning alive of a Palestinian teen in East al-Quds by Zionist settlers.
16-year-old Mohammed Abu Khdeir’s death has sparked a wave of protests across the Palestinian territories. Ever since, Israel has been pounding the blockaded enclave.
Since Tuesday, more than 150 Palestinians have lost their lives in a series of Israeli air attacks targeting different parts of the besieged Gaza Strip.
Some 1.7 million people in Gaza are deprived of their basic rights, such as freedom of movement, jobs that pay proper wages, and adequate healthcare and education.
