Iran’s Parliament Speaker Urges Muslim Unity in Defending Palestinians
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker urged unity of Muslims for defending the oppressed people of Palestine against brutal aggression of the Zionist regime.
"Given the crisis recently created in the region and the discord sowed by extremist-terrorist groups among the Muslims, Muslims' unity is crucial today," reiterated Ali Larijani, expressing the hope that the issue of Palestine could be a pivot around which Muslims converge and unite.
In an open session of the Parliament on Tuesday, Larijani also appreciated the Palestinian ambassador to Iran, Palestinian Islamic Jihad representative in Tehran, and the representative of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas for their presence and their speeches in the Parliament.
Larijani further called Tuesday's session as the symbol of the Parliament's support for the resistance movement in Palestine. He stressed that under current circumstances, it is necessary that the Iranian nation support Palestinians and defend their goals.
Since July 8, Israelis have started a new wave of attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip by launching dozens of airstrikes and targeting residential areas, hospitals, and public places.
Death toll from the Israeli attacks targeting different parts of the Gaza Strip since July 8 has reached to over 190, with another 1,400 Palestinians wounded.
The Gaza-based Palestinian Center for Human Rights said Israel had destroyed 147 homes and badly damaged hundreds of others.
In response to Israel's inhumane attacks, Palestinian resistance groups have been firing retaliatory rockets into the occupied lands.
