Health Minister: Iran Ready to Send Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Health Minister said Tehran is ready to send humanitarian aid including medicine and medical equipment for the wounded in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Seyed Hassan Hashemi made the remarks during his meeting with the representatives of Palestinian resistance groups in Tehran on Wednesday.

The minister expressed his deep regrets for the disaster happening in Gaza during the holy month of Ramadan, pledging to welcome Palestinian wounded who need complex surgeries in hospitals in Iran.

Hashemi added that Iran considers it as a “religious and humanitarian duty” not to leave unanswered the help request of Muslims in other countries.

Islamic Jihad Movement Representative Nasser Abu Sharif for his part said unfortunately most of the attacks target schools, adding that most of the wounded are women and children.

The Palestinian envoy noted that Gaza hospitals cannot provide enough service to the injured Palestinians and there is dire need for medicine and medical equipment.

He emphasized that Palestinians need support from Islamic countries including Iran to be able to continue their campaign against occupation.

Israeli warplanes have been pounding targets in Gaza in Tel Aviv’s new round of offensive that began on July 8.

Nearly 230 people have been killed and more than 1,970 others injured by the new wave of Israeli aggression so far.

The death toll has already exceeded that of the 2012 offensive against the coastal enclave.
