US, Brazil Reach FIVB Volleyball World League Final
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - US and Brazil national volleyball teams advanced to the final match of the 2014 FIVB World League on Saturday.
US defeated Iran 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-16) in the first semi-final at the Nelson Mandela Hall in Florence, Italy.
Iran captain Saeid Marouf was happy with Iran’s performance despite the result.
“This wasn’t a bad day for the Iran team, it was just a very good day for US – they played perfectly. We needed to be better to win, but if we played them ten times, they would win nine,” he said.
“We have done well at this tournament though, and our fans have been fantastic. We will try to win the bronze medal for them,” Marouf added.
Nine-time champion Brazil also marched into the final after beating host Italy in straight sets (25-11, 25-23, 25-20) in the second semi-final. Brazil will play US on Sunday and Italy face Iran.
