Iran Opens Facility for Overhauling Fokker 100 Engines
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran has set up a special facility for overhauling engines of Fokker 100 airliners, an official at Iran's Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) announced on Sunday.
“Due to the sanctions imposed (on Iran) and lack of cooperation from the manufacturer company, Rolls-Royce, in overhauling the engines of Fokker 100, the Iranian Aviation Industries Organization (AIO) in cooperation with the Iranian airlines established an overhaul facility in the country for (overhauling) the engines,” Deputy Head of the CAO for Flight Standard Hamid Habibi stated.
He added that after a long joint effort with the Aviation Industries Organization, the CAO on July 15 issued a license for the facility and authorized it to overhaul the engines.
Habibi also said that the center has great capabilities to overhaul different types of turbojet, turboshaft and turboprop engines.
