Iranian Students to Protest Muslim Countries’ Silence over Gaza Tragedy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian university students plan to hold a sit-in protest in front of the Jordanian embassy in Tehran to express their objection to the silence of certain Muslim countries over the Zionist regime’s atrocities in Gaza.

Seyed Mohsen Mirhaji, a student activist, told the Tasnim News Agency that the sit-in will be held after staging gatherings in front of embassies of several other Muslim countries and the Interest Section of Egypt in Tehran.

He said the participating students will submit letters to the embassies and voice protest against the Islamic countries’ indifference to the Zionist crimes against the people of Gaza.

Mirhaji added that they will call for more unity and solidarity among Muslim states regarding the ongoing events in Gaza.

Numerous demonstrations have been staged in different countries against the ongoing Israeli military aggression against Palestinians in the blockaded Gaza Strip.

However, international calls for an end to the Israeli bloodshed in the coastal enclave have fallen on deaf ears so far.

Israeli warplanes have been pounding numerous sites in the Gaza Strip since July 8, followed by a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land ten days later.

So far, more than 1,700 Palestinians have been killed while almost 9,000 have been injured. Most of the casualties have been civilians, including a large number of women and children.
