Javad Nekounam Returns to Osasuna

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian national football team captain Javad Nekounam returned to Spain's Osasuna after two years.

On Monday, Nekou inked a two-year contract with Spanish second division side CA Osasuna.

Nekounam, who was part of the Iranian football team in the World Cup in Brazil, has already played six seasons for Osasuna.

Nekou began his playing career at Pas in 1998 and played for Emirati teams Al-Wahda and Al-Sharjah before joining Osasuna in 2006. The Iranian midfielder, who turns 34 in September, joined the Iranian popular team, Esteghlal, in 2012 and also played for Al- Kuwait.

"Now, I'm here and we will all work to return to First Division. It’s an honor for me to return to Osasuna and I am happier than the first time I came here," said the player.

“I do not play for money. I'm a professional, but I play for my future. It’s more important to me. Osasuna has always been in my head and in my heart,” Nekounam added.
