President of Iran Football Federation Invited to Japan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The president of the Iranian Football Federation Ali Kaffashian has been invited to Japan.

The Iranian and Japanese football federations signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday as part of efforts to boost cooperation between the two Asian powers.

The MoU was inked during a special ceremony attended by President of Iran’s Football Federation Ali Kaffashian and his Japanese counterpart Daini Kuniya in Tehran.

“I was here in Tehran 40 years ago to take part at the Tehran 1974 Asian Games but we didn’t play Iran football team in that games,” Kuniya said.

The president of Japanese Football Association also said the Asian football teams didn’t play good in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

“The Asian countries didn’t get good results at the World Cup. We will have to analyze the problem with the help of Asian Football Confederation,” he added.

Kuniya also invited his Iranian counterpart to Japan in the near future.
