Iran Calls for Int’l Pressure to End Gaza Blockade

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran called on the international community, humanitarian organizations in particular, to exert pressure on the Israeli regime in a bid to end the ongoing siege on the Gaza Strip.

People around the world are witnessing the humanitarian tragedy taking place in Gaza, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham said on Sunday, and voiced concern about the restrictions on sending medical supply to the Palestinian people.

She also slammed the Zionist regime of Israel for continuing the massacre of civilian people in Gaza, and said that the conditions set by the Palestinian Resistance Movement for ceasefire, including lifting the blockade on Gaza, are completely based on the basic rights of the people of Palestine.

“The international community is needed to pressure the Zionist regime to fully lift the blockade on Gaza and put an end to its aggressions and guarantee non-repetition of (the violations),” Afkham said.

The spokeswoman also stressed the need to help reconstruct the Gaza Strip and to prevent the Zionist regime from putting obstacles in the way of delivering humanitarian supplies to the Palestinian people in the enclave.

Elsewhere in her remarks, Afkham called on the UN Human Rights Council to launch inquiry on the crimes against humanity committed by Israel in Gaza and provide a fair and sound report so that the Zionist regime can be quickly prosecuted in the international courts for breaching human rights.
