Commander: Air Defense Units Capable of Guaranteeing Iran’s Security

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh announced that Iran’s air defense systems are powerful enough to guarantee the country’s security.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency on Wednesday, Rapporteur of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini said Brigadier General Hajizadeh and Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili attended the meeting of the presiding board of the commission today to discuss the issue of the Israeli drone, which was shot down near a nuclear facility in central Iran.

Naqavi Hosseini said the two commanders explained the way Iranian air defense forces intercepted the invading drone.

The lawmaker also quoted Hajizadeh as saying in the meeting that “Iran’s airspace is one of the most secure ones in the Middle East region" and Iran's defense system is powerful enough to guarantee security and shield the country from any kind of aggressive move, espionage or undeclared flights.

The parliament meeting came after the IRGC said on Sunday that it has tracked and shot down a radar-evading stealth Israeli drone which was intending to penetrate the airspace over Natanz nuclear zone.

The aircraft was intercepted by a surface-to-air missile.
