Ireland's House Speaker to Visit Iran Later This Month
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Sean Barrett, the speaker of Dail Eireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament, heading a parliamentary delegation, will pay a visit to Iran later this month.
The Irish delegation is scheduled to arrive in Iran on September 30.
During the 3-day visit to Iran, Barrett will meet with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and the country’s senior officials in a bid to discuss issues of mutual interest.
The Irish House of Commons was the lower house of the Parliament of Ireland that existed from 1297 until 1800 and has 166 members.
This will be the second visit by a parliamentary delegation from Ireland to Iran this year.
In January, Chairman of the Irish Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade Pat Breen had made a visit to Tehran.
