Turkey to Host International Conference of Silk Road Traders


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Turkish is scheduled to host an international conference of the Silk Road Traders next month.

Over 20 Asian and European countries are expected to take part in the international event slated for October 17-19 in the city of Trabzon, north-eastern Turkey.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Bangladesh, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Russia, Bulgaria, Albania, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine have been invited to the conference.

From Iran, members of the commerce chambers of East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan, Zanjan and Gilan provinces will attend the two-day event.

Jointly organized by Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association and Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the conference will feature discussions on trade, transportation and tourism.  

The Silk Road is a historical network of interlinking trade routes across the Afro-Eurasian landmass that helped the transport of goods as well as arts and sciences from the edge of Asia to the heart of Europe, back and forth, for nearly 3000 years.
