Asian Games: Iranian Women Claims Kabaddi Silver

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian women’s Kabaddi team grabbed the silver medal in the 17th Asian Games on Friday.

The Iranian team lost to dominant Indian 31-21 at the Songdo Global University Gymnasium in Incheon, South Korea.

“We didn’t deserve to lose in the final match. Unfortunately, our experienced players made mistakes in the game,” Iran coach Azam Maghsoodloo said.

“We are a fast team and had to win the match but our players didn’t play well against Indians. Also, Iranian players were not mentally ready for the match,” she added.

Some 9,500 athletes from 45 countries are competing at the Games, the world's second-biggest multi-sport event after the summer Olympics, with 439 gold medals in 36 sports up for grabs.

Iran has participated in the games with 276 athletes in 22 sports.
