Turkish Spokesman Denies Reports Ankara Summoned Iran’s Envoy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman denied earlier media reports that Iranian ambassador to Ankara has been summoned over Iran and Turkey’s conflicting views on Syria.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency on Saturday, Tanju Bilgic dismissed a report by a Turkish media outlet alleging that Turkey’s Foreign Ministry has summoned Iranian ambassador, Alireza Bigdeli, over Tehran’s criticism of Ankara’s policies toward Syria.

On Friday, the Hurriyet Daily News published a report saying the Iranian diplomat has been summoned by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

“Turkey does not need to ask permission from anyone while taking measures in line with international law against threats to its national security,” Hurriyet quoted Bilgic as telling the Anadolu Agency.

The Turkish spokesman underlined that the authentic reports about the case could be obtained exclusively from the Anadolu Agency website.
