Iran, Iraq Discuss Extradition of Criminals

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hassan Qashqavi discussed ways to expand bilateral ties with Iraq, especially in judicial and legal fields, including extradition of criminals between the two neighboring countries.

In a meeting with senior Iraqi officials in Baghdad on Sunday, Qashqavi discussed the implementation of previous agreements on judicial affairs, including the extradition of prisoners.

He also expressed that he would propose to the Iraqi counterpart a plan to cancel political visa and hoped the Iraqi party is ready to accept it.

Back in April 2011, Iran and Iraq signed agreements on the extradition of criminals, including provisions for the repatriation of convicts to their country of origin.
