Blatter Offers Condolences on Passing of Mazloumi


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - FIFA President Joseph Sepp Blatter has sent a letter of condolence to Iranian Football Federation President Ali Kaffashian upon learning of the death of Gholamhossein Mazloumi.

“I would like to express my deepest sympathy on learning of the death of former Iran and Esteghlal striker Gholamhossein Mazloumi,” wrote the FIFA President.

Mazloumi, whose nickname was Golden Head, died of stomach cancer at the age of 64.

Mazloumi made 48 appearances for the Iranian national football team from 1969 to 1977 and scored 37 goals.

The striker was a member of Iranian popular team Taj (now Esteghlal).

He was laid to rest in Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra cemetery on Friday.
