President Rouhani: Iran to Emerge Victorious in Nuclear Talks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani underlined that the country will by no means relinquish its nuclear rights in the talks with world powers, and stressed that the path of negotiation will lead Iran to the final victory.

“The Iranian nation will emerge victorious, and I have no doubt about the success of the approach we have adopted,” President Rouhani said in televised interview in Tehran on Monday evening.

His comments came after diplomats from Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) decided to extend talks on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program for more seven months.

“The world has no option but to negotiate with the Iranian nation’s representatives, and the path of talks will lead to the final agreement,” Rouhani added.

“Today, the opposite negotiating parties have reached the conclusion that pressure and sanctions on Iran will not bear fruit,” he explained.

The president made it clear that Iran’s nuclear facilities would certainly remain operational and Tehran would never stop its centrifuges' work.

There is now a global consensus, he noted, that Iran is entitled to continue research and development activities in the nuclear field and that Iran’s nuclear file should be removed from the UN Security Council’s agenda.

After a whole host of meetings, the last of which held among the foreign ministers and EU’s envoy Catherine Ashton, the parties decided to extend an interim nuclear deal they signed last year (the Joint Plan of Action) into July 1, 2015.
