MP Urges Closer Iran-Singapore Trade Ties
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian MP, who chairs Iran-Singapore parliamentary friendship group, called for further efforts to deepen relations between the two nations, particularly economic ties.
In a meeting with outgoing Singaporean Ambassador to Tehran Chew Tai Soo on Wednesday, Gholam Reza Mesbahi Moqaddam hailed the growing ties between the two countries’ parliaments.
He, however, said that further efforts should be made to utilize the existing capacities of cooperation between the two parliaments for promote relations in all areas, especially in trade field.
Pointing to a recent visit to Singapore by an Iranian parliamentary delegation, he said that the talks between the Iranian and Singaporean officials during the trip were "constructive".
The Iranian team made the visit to Singapore on November 23 as part of efforts to explore avenues for closer bilateral ties with the Southeastern Asian country.
Mesbahi Moqaddam also expressed the hope that friendly ties would further promote in diverse spheres through joint efforts by the two countries’ officials.
The Singaporean diplomat, for his part, described bilateral relations between Tehran and Singapore City as “good and positive” and voiced his country’s readiness to improve the ties.
